Because we’re not just about denim. Because travel and culture are necessities, not luxuries. Because style is an evolution. Because art and inspiration are around every corner. Because we love to indulge and we’re nice enough to share. Welcome to our world.
You may already be a fan of the Scottish group Belle & Sebastian, and if you are then you’ll be happy to get a ‘new’ release from them, even if it’s a collection of recordings from 1996 – 2001.
The limited edition release of their BBC sessions features a lot of old goodies (obviously), like Sleep The Clock Around…
And the special double disc version includes live recordings from Belfast with covers like Here Comes the Sun. Just enough to tide us over until they get around to a new release, and possibly the perfect disc for a mix of upbeat and mellow tunes to get us through the holiday weekend.
Three of the biggest trends for fall – plaid, feathers and electric blue – from one of our favorite labels – Pency – make for some original holiday attire…
Get casual in these plaid options. We love the tuxedo jacket paired with shorts. So west coast.
The silky tuxedo blouse gets a hot makeover with this shot of color.
No need to go overboard with feathers – just a whimsical touch will do.
Fall has yet to hit LA… we’re still wearing our lighter dresses in this unusually warm November, but capturing the mood in wintry colors. It pretty much feels like this…
Have a cozy weekend, wherever you are! Photo by Bruno Dayan.
Do you Etsy? If not, you’re missing out on some fully stocked vintage stores with goodies to fulfill your fall and winter wardrobe requirements. Allow us to demonstrate:
Lace should have been on your shopping list a while ago. While black is hot, we dig this maroon and cream jacket dress for its originality.
Sequins are everywhere right now. Lucky for you, many stores have a variety of pieces from the 80′s (the era of sequins). This dress is one of the more subtle pieces, and even has a great keyhole back.
If you’re gonna do real fur – go vintage. This coat is in amazing shape, and your animal loving friends won’t hate you as much for purchasing fox fur from the 70′s.
Back in September, the adorable Aussie, Lenka, debuted her self-titled album… but apparently we didn’t notice. Whoops. But all that changed after her performance as a part of the Hotel Cafe Tour the other night.
We couldn’t help but be drawn in by her sincere and fun style, and (since we’re being honest here) her awesome vintage 80′s dress in bright purple. And the more we heard, the more we liked. Maybe even loved? We’ll let you decide for yourself if she’s a bit too pop princess, or just the right dose of sugar.
One thing we’re pretty sure we can agree on thing: this girl is damn cute. And we want her wardrobe.
With as many hotels and restaurants pop up in LA weekly, it’s hard to keep up and even harder to get people to take notice. But when the hotel is a collaboration between SBE and Starwood, with design by Philippe Starcke, you know it’s gonna be good.
Oh, and the restaurant? Well, it features shopping (yes! shopping!) from Moss and a menu created by Jose Andres. Really people, need we say more?
With the ridiculous November heat we’ve been having, we might just have to pay a visit to the rooftop pool before indulging in the rest of the experience. See you there?
Nobody knows this better than any girl who’s gone out for the night in a new pair of heels. So, when we stumbled upon these ‘shoes’ (via the coveted) by design student Gwendolyn Huskens from the Design Academy in Eindhoven, they certainly put a smile on our face…
Created from casts, bandages and wraps these stylish creations look good enough to wear even when we’re not in pain! We love a little ironic creativity. Well done Gwen!
