SHOP FOR A CAUSE: GUCCI FOR UNICEF

Splurging on a little Gucci these days isn’t always easy to talk yourself into, but when 25% of the proceeds from these sales go to benefit Unicef, it sure makes the decision a little easier…

With a little rocker chic edge, the collection certainly has a more original motif than most Gucci bags and accessories (you know, the ones that are adorned with repetative G’s… yeah, we know it’s designer. thanks). We like that the art is the focus of the “white tattoo’ design, and if you’re gonna go Gucci, you might as well go for a good cause too.

TUESDAY TUNES: SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE

Not only has Slumdog Millionaire been racking up nominations and awards as a movie, but the soundtrack has turned out to be a huge hit as well.

While M.I.A.’s popular Paper Planes is included in the lineup of music, it’s the dance tune Jai Ho, featured at the end of the movie along with the required Bollywood choreographed scene that has us hyped. For the full video click here. If you need us, we’ll be practicing our dance moves.

SAG IS THE WORD

No, really. There were a few ladies who looked a bit, well, saggy last night. A nicer word might be draping, but really? These looks were… *yawn*… not doing anything for either of these gals…

angelina jolie, christina applegate

Angelina looked drab (who knew it was possible?) and Christina looked a little slouchy with the way the dress swallowed her up. If they were trying to go for greek goddess they should have tried Anne Hathaway’s take instead…

black and white SAG awards

We thought Anne looked stunning in a simple white sheath, and Kyra showed us how to to balance simple with glamorous. If you have to ‘tone your look down’ as we keep hearing everyone is trying to do, this is the way to do it. She could have skipped the necklace and still looked fabulous.

golden girls SAG awards

Buttery yellows and shades of blue were also big for the evening, and all looked gorgeous…

true blue SAG awards

And while we’re on the topic of awards, how about we give one away to Jenna Fischer for Most Improved on the red carpet this year?

DITA & ELIE DO IT UP!

Fashiontribes reports that the glamorous Dita von Teese will be back to her old tricks at the Crazy Horse Cabaret in Paris starting February 1st. Our favorite part? Designer Elie Saab has been tasked with dressing her in 40′s inspired ensembles…

Anyone for a Valentine’s weekend in Paris?? Maybe we’ll have Elie whip us up a little ensemble too…

A LADYLIKE STATEMENT

Last year brought the return of serious statement necklaces and ladylike lace to the runway. We can thank the Malin Collection for fusing these two trends into one amazing accessory.

Available right here. What exactly do you wear this with? We’re not sure. But if you can pull it off, you might be our new hero. PS – they’re not black – they’re a very very dark green… even cooler, right?

TUESDAY TUNES: U2

The first single from U2 in four years has just been released. How could we NOT write about this?? You can hear the track right here, and it will be available for download on February 15th. In the meantime, we’ll be seeing many more appearances from the band… but it will be hard to top this one!

Until the tour, of course. And then we expect nothing but the awesomeness that is Bono.

THE FABULOUS MRS. O

Following the design-savvy Michelle Obama has turned into a full time job these days. So much so, that a blog has been created just for following her style. Mrs. O features Michelle’s fashion picks, divulges her favorite lipgloss, and keeps us all up to date on who she might be wearing next.

And, as we all hold our breaths to see what she emerges in tomorrow, we have to give her kudos for the first big look of the week, created for her by Narciso Rodriguez…

As Mrs. O points out, the coat looks inspired by his Fall 07 RTW collection, but is classic perfection in a warm camel color. We can’t wait to see what this stylish first couple has in store next!
