TUESDAY TUNES: KINGS OF LEON

We gave Kings of Leon a brief mention last year when their album first arrived, but their latest single Use Somebody has us going crazy for their sexy sounds all over again…

If you don’t have this in your ipod yet… it’s time to get some.

WE’RE WITH THE BAND

Taking a cue from Sgt. Pepper this spring, we’re pairing our Hudsons with band nerd inspired jackets.

The military styling that we’ve seen in the past year has been taken to a different level with designers like DVF taming down the details to create a more basic (and dare we say, functional?) piece for spring like the one above.

Of course, being practical isn’t always the best way to go. The washed out jacket from Balmain with its overly structured shoulders and metallic banding is perfect for the true fashionista. We love the idea of pairing it over a tattered yet girlish dress for cool contrast.

DELICATESSEN DELUXE

Recently making the cut for T+L’s Design Awards, and earning praise from designers like Calvin Klein, Delicatessen in NYC has taken counter culture to a whole new urban level.

Boasting serious design collaborations on everything from the interiors to the menus (even the staff uniforms were designed by Charlotte Ronson), this ‘Deli’ is anything but typical.

We love the open-air courtyard and lounge area – the bright space with natural wood starkly contrasts the darker luxurious atmosphere within.

The dinner space feels like a futuristic diner with midcentury modern appeal – perfect for serving updated comfort food classics.

ROCK OF LOVE

Just when we thought we’d seen enough of the statement necklaces, we stumbled across the designs of Darby Scott and instantly knew we’d be ready to rock these organic inspired pieces anywhere.

We especially love rough-cut rings that come in smoky quartz hues contrasted with polished gold or silver bands. But, you know, we’d settle for the glamorous green malachite too.

Petals of faux amber also provide lots of nature inspired drama, and lazer cut wood bangles accented with colorful stones are perfectly playful for spring.

TUESDAY TUNES: U2

We mentioned the latest album from U2 a few weeks ago, but we purposefully skipped over the record’s official release last week to poll our own official opinions around here. Of course, the die hard U2 fans love it. And most of us agree it’s better than their last couple of albums…

As for the skeptics among us, after their performance of† “I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight” on Letterman, we’re all pretty sure of one thing. These boys still know how to rock.

COMIC RELIEF

We all remember when this infamous Vanity Fair cover arrived…

cusl12_hollywood0702

There was quite a buzz around the two starletts baring it all. Well, just when we need it the most, it’s nice to know that the magazine and photographer Annie Leibovitz can have a sense of humor…

There couldn’t have been a better way to showcase the new generation of comedic geniuses in their March issue, than starting with a little spoofing of their own. Well, done VF.

FRIDAY PHOTO: THE BEGINNINGS OF SPRING

Spring seems to be teasing us lately with sunshine, then rain, then sunshine…

vogueuk

Kinda feels like this. Heavy black winter gowns and fresh spring flowers. Hopefully, we’re on the sunshine upswing this weekend…
