LUST LIST: STELLA MCCARTNEY MESH

Really lovin’ the texture of mesh sandals (and hoping they’re more comfortable than those jellies we wore growing up), we’re especially into this version from Stella McCartney…

The barely there nude with this hot style makes it simple to pair with pretty much every summer ensemble we have. A necessary lust? We think so.

QUITE STOKED

When we hop across the pond to London, sometimes it’s nice to get away to the country… for a day. A place where wellies are readily available for garden walks, but the internet access is still fully available 24/7. The perfect spot? The Stoke Place Hotel

stoke1

Just a quick trip from the city lies this little getaway that has it all – modern amenities, peaceful grounds, and even some clay pigeon shooting to entertain (because we know you’ve been dying to try).

stoke3

While all those quaint little country details like clawfoot tubs grace the rooms (do people really fit in those?), the modern styles are mixed in in all the right spots (hello flat screen and plush bed!)

stoke2

Even their dining areas and the lounge echo the quirky mix of styles, but with fresh produce and dining options at your fingertips, whose to complain? We’re kinda diggin’ this eclectic look. And when you’ve got your breath of fresh air or two… the city will be waiting.

TUESDAY TUNES: THE PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART

Yes, their name is long, and sounds a bit teen-angsty, but this indie pop group is anything but. Trust us… these guys are one to watch. Catchy sounds and a loyal fan following? You can’t go wrong.

ROCK THE FROCK

Living in LA, we’re lucky to have a ton of killer vintage stores to sift through for amazing finds from jumpsuits to gowns, but for the rest of you who may not have such a mass of resources at your fingertips, it’s nice to have a site like The Frock.

From sleek vintage sheaths from Armani and Halston…

vintage2

To layers of crazy detail from Balenciaga and Louis Feraud. The Frock offers some of the most well known fashion houses from throughout the decades with dresses in perfectly preserved shape.

They even have a bridal section. Really, who wouldn’t want to walk down the aisle in an authentic Adolfo Sardia or Givenchy?

FRIDAY PHOTO: ELLEN VON UNWERTH

Who says grown ups can’t pull of polka-dot tights or flowers in their hair? Try adding some girlish twists to the wardrobe this weekend… just be sure to balance it with heavy eyeliner and dark nails for a playful rocker look.

LIZZIE GOES URBAN

Lizzie Fortunato has created quite a buzz in the accessories department in the past year, so it shouldn’t be too surprising that she’s the latest to join in on the designer-meets-mainstream-retail partnership trend.

This July, Fortunato will be appearing in Urban Outfitters stores around the country with an 8-piece line called Hope Marian, priced, of course, to the UO crowd.

These funky pieces maintain the aesthetic of materials woven through with chain and charms, but let’s be honest…

You just can’t beat the real deal! Still, we look forward to incorporating some of the Hope Marian pieces into our wardrobe for the summer – an easy way to dress up our favorite t-shirt and jeans combo!

SHINE ON

Just in case there was any doubt that high shine metallics were the trend for this season’s hottest styles, these looks from the Costume Institute gala cleared that right up.

metallics at the MET

Kate Moss killed it in her Marc Jacobs sheath and head wrap. Coco Rocha with Isaac Mizrahi in a frock to match that flaming red hair she’s been rocking, and Aggie (with Twiggy!) switchin’ things up as only Aggie can do. Who knew lame’ would ever make this big of a comeback?

V Magazine’s recent spread captured the same high shine metallics in their Lights of Spring editorial with Natalia Vodianova. Here, a few of our own picks: Burberry trench, Jimmy Choo heels, and a hot bag from Stella McCartney.

Of course, if we could have one piece for the closet this summer, it might have to be this dress from Zac Posen. But those Lanvin heels wouldn’t hurt either…

TUESDAY TUNES: CAMERA OBSCURA

Camera Obscura returned last month with the band’s newest album, My Maudlin Career. Their latest single off the album, French Navy, is a perfect example of their quirky sound – bits of sarcasm masked by an upbeat tune.

The more we listen to this album, the more we love!
