A lot of New Yorkers flee the city on New Year’s Eve only because many of us consider it “amateur night,” especially since this is the city that never sleeps! But we still like to know that the folks from all over the world consider NYC to be the center of the universe on the eve of another year, marked by the massive illuminated ball that drops in Time Square at midnight.
Here is a shot of the scene from a recent year. Wherever you are in the world upon the dawning of 2011, Hudson Jeans would like to wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Go forth in style, and in Hudson jeans.
Arden Wohl’s scrumptious peanut butter tartlets, with lingerie panty design at VPL holiday party
Most city gals recognize Arden Wohl from fashion pages in magazines as she’s noted for her bohemian dressing, replete with head scarves, prints, and live color. She also graduated from NYU and started as a young filmmaker, casting pals like actress Lee Lee Sobieski in films, the last one about codependent pals who verged on the obsessive “Single White Female” scale.
But, Arden’s latest talent resides in her cake making. Now a student at New York’s French Culinary Institute, she’s taken a job crafting desserts at Michelin star restaurant Aureole in midtown. You’ll find such delights at warm chocolate gingerbread (with spiced cranberry and clotted cream) or coconut panna cotta on the menu.
I was personally blown away by Arden’s peanut butter tartlets, served with bubbly wine at Victoria Bartlett’s holiday sale and party. They melted in my mouth with just enough nut and cream. Don’t be surprised if there’s a fashionable bake shop in Arden’s future. Every fashionista will flock there, beating Magnolia bakery out from the “Sex and the City” days.
A recent shot of Arden in Prada
A blizzard has hit NYC– reports say sixteen inches of snow– but so it’s great weather for trekking to the deli for hot cocoa in Hudson jeans and Doc Martens. But, gals envisioning New Year’s Eve parties in glittery frocks need to find some tights alternatives. Here’s where our slideshow kicks in.
Austrian born art gallery manager (and deejay Paul Sevigny’s main bird) Sophie Aschauer LOVES her leopard print stockings her parents sent her. “No, they were not the good kind!” She tells me with a laugh. But they seem to last without tragic runs that can ruin an outfit. Also check out party girl Genevieve Jones’ bright orange gams. And “it girl” Arden Wohl likes a lot of blue shades with her orange pumps or gold sandals. Finally, for those chicks who will be pairing stilettos with skinny Hudsons, pick up a pair of thin glittery socks — a light dusty gold shade work well– to ring in 2011!
