Georgia’s World

One of the major things I’ve noticed about Georgia May Jagger is that, for an eighteen year old girl, she has an incredible level of self-awareness. She’s aware of her body and she knows how to use it. Mario’s instruction to Georgia? “you can do whatever you want. It’s your world, you know? We’re gonna follow you.”

Our last take for the day took place at the garden. The concept was to take an outdoor shot of Georgia using one light source, focusing on her face.

Gaga Over Georgia

I managed to take some candid shots of Georgia in between takes. Keep an eye out for the shoot’s inspiration board — and Yves Saint Laurent shoes — behind her.

Greetings from Alder Manor!

BIG shoutout to Hudson Jeans friends, fans and followers! It’s me Bryanboy, guest-blogging for HudsonJeans.com and I’m here in sunny Yonkers, NY for the fall/winter 2010 ad campaign photo shoot.

The gorgeous Georgia May Jagger, Hudson Jeans’ official “face”, is here. Ditto with the legendary photographer Mario Sorrenti. Super stylist Camilla Nickerson (whose work I love and adore) is also here. As you can see, I’m in very good company! ;-)

The campaign is being shot at Alder Manor, a massive 74-room mansion built in 1912.

Stunning.

How cool is this couch? It’s totally amazing what prop stylists are able to find…

Coming up: some behind-the-scenes photos of Georgia and the shoot! Stay tuned…

Banks Violette’s Optical Illusions

Banks Violette. Born in 1973. Lives in New York City. His followers include Mayor Bloomberg, who hit the scene at the opening at the Gladstone Gallery. Blokes in general seem to like him, since he plays with abstract shapes.

Take a closer look though, especially at the video below, since Banks retains the last laugh. The lines mimic the couple moving toward the wall. How’s that for sexual body language?

Bank’s work has been termed “self-consciously constructed and theatrical.” Well, yeah, especially if people play with their shadows on the walls. In any case, it takes us right back to childhood games.

Banks Violette — only up until this Saturday! — at Barbara Gladstone Gallery, 530 West 21st Street, Chelsea, NYC.

Psychedelic Spencer Sweeney… Maybe Wear Shades?

Who the hell is that psychedelic sunglass-wearing man in a black magician’s top hat? On Saturday evening, he looked every bit as colorful as the whacky images lining Gavin Brown’s gallery.

The one and only Spencer Sweeney — now grown up? — after hitting the New York scene a decade ago as an artist/party-thrower/mainstay of the original Vice magazine crowd, decided to dress up. It’s not that he needed to do that. The images speak for themselves, like an acid trip across America and Europe. In fact, Sweeney only popped into NYC for a couple of days since he’s been an artist in residence in Berlin, where he’s also showing.

“I leave tomorrow.” He told me, and he wasn’t so keen on it.

“Berlin lacks the sizzle of New York.” He said, clutching a Heineken he nicked from a metal bucket.

“You might try dressing up like a warlock over there to spice things up.” I offered.

Meanwhile, those in the land of “sizzle,” NYC can visit Gavin Brown’s Enterprise, 620 Greenwich Street (at Leroy), until April 24th. The exhibit is called, ‘Egyptian Diving Board, Part II’.  I have no idea why….

Get on that horse and ride into the sunset, look back with no remorse.

camel safari

Jaismer, camel safari. 13 hours riding a camel, all evening lying under the stars. Incredible (and worth the leg pain!).

mount abu, daveni market

Mount Abu, Daveni market. The market is decorated with hanging ‘prayer flags’ with meanings to all the different colours. Blue for the sky, white for the air, red for fire, green for water and yellow for earth. Local horses take you up to the ‘sunset point’ where the most incredible views can been seen.

matchbox love

Cyrnshal market, Jodhpur.  Sweet love on a matchbox.

Chelsea Leyland Shares the Latest Deejay Trick!

IMG_1498

Next to Alice Dellal making the devil face, BFF Chelsea Leyland resembles an angel

Alice Dellal may be among those British “it girls” who along with Peaches Geldof always graces the style pages. But the prettiest prize among the pack goes to deejay (native Londoner) Chelsea Leyland.  You’ll catch blonde curly-locked Chelsea, 24, deejaying cool parties from Art Basel Miami to Vito Schnabel’s private New York studio dance-offs.

She recently showed me the latest secret of the modern deejay: blank vinyl records. “You place the needle on the record.” She tells me. “Then highlight the song on your iTunes or iPod so it transfers directly to the record.” Thus, hip deejays can now get the glorious imperfection of vinyl originals added to a digital recording.

What most folks of Chelsea’s generation don’t remember is that vinyl trumped the CD and later the MP3 because the listener also got to pick up the quirks of say , Jimi Hendrix’s guitar, background noise, one-of-a-kind moments that perfection kills.

So, here, the perfect pretty girl learns the imperfect trick.

Nice, lass.

Delphic Shows No Doubt

Delphic is an alternative dance band from Greater Manchester, United Kingdom. They made their name last summer circuiting England’s festivals including “Bestival” and “T in the Park”. Although it is their music that has given them their eccentric name, Delphic’s music videos are rapidly becoming as successful as their songs. The video for ‘This Momentary’ has been nominated for 3 Music Video Awards and they have been shortlisted for the BBC “Sound of 2010″. Here is the video for their latest single, ‘Doubt’.
