One Giant Art Music Rave in NYC

If you walked by Milk Studios on 15th Street close to the West Side Highway last Saturday you might have spied a line that snaked all the way down the block. But if you didn’t have the proper wrist band, the body guards would not relent. About 2,500 people were invited by Intel, Vice Magazine, and executives at Milk Studios for an all day bash. Call it an arty rave on many floors. Interpol, Sleigh Bells, the Rapture, M.I.A., and Gang Gang Dance performed.  Die Antwoord — a trip hop guy with a high-pitched girl singer — turned actor Josh Hartnett on so much that he wanted to body surf. Also in the house were actress Kirsten Dunst and a slew of kids who snacked on Pop Burgers and took in some high tech art installations.

Check out the one I shot for Hudson above where you could walk into a pyramid and have your face morphed into a light glob on the ceiling. In the next few days, I’ll have out-takes from the Milk party, which lasted on all eight floors and the roof until 2 a.m.

Turbogeist with Jimmy Jagger Play Shoreditch 1234 Festival

Turbogeist with lead singer Jimmy Jagger in secret NYC show at Milk Gallery… There will be more to come!

While our top Hudson blogger bloke shot all the cool bits at Glastonbury over the weekend, Turbogeist with frontman Jimmy Jagger (Georgia May’s big brother) and guitarist Luis Felber rocked the 1234 Shoreditch Festival on Saturday night at Shoreditch Park, London. They just came off a stint in NYC with underground shows at Don Hill’s and the basement of Milk Studios, where I got front row placement, next to Georgia May’s big sister Lizzie Jagger. Lizzie kept swinging her long brown hair round and round to the beats as Theodora Richards danced around next to her. Stay tuned for a preview of Turbogeist’s new tunes in the months to come. Before landing back home in the UK, the band wrapped recording songs with John Drew in Toronto. Unlike the Stones’ bluesy classics, Turbogeist is pure punk rock. God Save the Queen.

A showdown for fans

Two of many England fans here at Glastonbury gearing today’s world cup decider against our favourite rivals
Germany… Choosing between the music and the game.

The football match is underway as I write this. England go from 2 nil down against Germany to 2 all. But the goal is disallowed. Boooo. It’s heating up…

Unfortunately by the end, England was knocked out of the second group after Germany beat them 4-1, no doubt making a lot of fans wish they’d gone to see the acts instead.

Celebration does have its drawbacks…

The inhuman waste of the festival. Multiply what you see in this photo by 10 and you see what we see.
