What to Wear to Glastonbury

Glastonbury 2011

Everyone’s got their tents ready and the weather’s looking gloomy – this can only mean one thing. Glastonbury is here.

The festival was started in 1970 the day after Jimi Hendrix died and ever since Worthy Farm has become arguably the UK’s best known country residence. Musical highlights of this year’s festival include headliners Beyoncé and Morrissey, cult bands such as Warpaint and Anna Calvi and mega groups Hercules and Love Affair and Queens of the Stone Age. But never mind the music; everyone knows that at Glastonbury it’s as much about the fashion as it is the music.

For the authentic Glastonbury look it’s all about a pair of cuffed Hudson shorts, some sturdy waterproof boots or wellies and whatever top you don’t mind dowsing in mud. Add a cross-body bag in a tan brown for festival essentials (camera, phone, sanitizer…) and, for a hint of glamour, a pair of sunglasses and a classic parka à la Kate Moss and Sienna Miller, stalwarts of the Glastonbury scene.

VPL and Tiffany Tuttle: MOVE IT AND GROOVE IT!

VPL photos, shot by Maciek Kobielski

I’m hanging out with VPL designer Victoria Bartlett, whose Fall line hits stores in New York, LA, Paris, and London this week. Vic is into body hugging tunics, bra tops, leggings,  and sexy wraps, all that would rock with a good pair of Hudson jeans. We’re talking about shoes, and she notes that male designers are the ones who make the heels that really hurt. “Yeah, that’s true.” I say. “Is that why you use Tiffany Tuttle?” Vic nods.

Tuttle, who is based in LA has collaborated each VPL season and also works with model turned designer Erin Wasson, whose RVCA line puts out easy looks for a comfortable cool globe trotting girl. “My shoes aren’t about hindering a woman’s ability to have movement.” Tuttle says.

Check out the long skin tawny boots for VPL’s fall line above! As easy as wellies but so damn sexy over a pair of Hudson skinny jeans. More styling ideas would be to pair a VPL gray tee with some Hudson bell bottoms,  or wrap a VPL grand dad knit over a Hudson tank and shorts.

Meanwhile, check out the shoes: LDTUTTLE

QUITE STOKED

When we hop across the pond to London, sometimes it’s nice to get away to the country… for a day. A place where wellies are readily available for garden walks, but the internet access is still fully available 24/7. The perfect spot? The Stoke Place Hotel

stoke1

Just a quick trip from the city lies this little getaway that has it all – modern amenities, peaceful grounds, and even some clay pigeon shooting to entertain (because we know you’ve been dying to try).

stoke3

While all those quaint little country details like clawfoot tubs grace the rooms (do people really fit in those?), the modern styles are mixed in in all the right spots (hello flat screen and plush bed!)

stoke2

Even their dining areas and the lounge echo the quirky mix of styles, but with fresh produce and dining options at your fingertips, whose to complain? We’re kinda diggin’ this eclectic look. And when you’ve got your breath of fresh air or two… the city will be waiting.

FRIDAY PHOTO: CORRIE BOND

Fall is here, and that means one thing…

We can officially start working on incorporating some wellies into our weekend adventures! We even hear there’s a chance of rain tomorrow. (Yes. In LA.) And thanks to photographer Corrie Bond, we now have a little ensemble inspiration. Hudson shorts and a fun girly top. Weekend, here we come!

WE <3 WELLIES!

Fall is coming. And rain? Well, maybe in other parts of the country. But since when has the reality of weather ever stopped us from pretending like we have seasons here in LA? This year, however, we’re ditching or Uggs in favor of even less necessary footwear: Wellies!

burberry wellies

The Burberry Plaid is always a classic, but we also like this vamped up version with stud trim and high gloss.

hunter boods

Sometimes with a trend like this, it’s best to go classic. We’re big fans of the Hunter Original Wellingtons in a variety of colors, or could also go for the Hunter riding boot. Either way, these styles will have staying power in your wardrobe.

bright wellies

If keeping things subtle is not your style, then these boots are for you! Take your pick between the bright yellow (and highly coveted) Loeffler Randall’s, or faux patent red by Aquatalia.

Bring on the rain!
