Left coast: Far away from the big city beaches, Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur, CA. offers a bit of peace and quiet… plus the drive up Highway 1 offers an amazing bit of scenery. If you’re looking to do things up East Coast style, might we recommend Cape Cod’s posh North Beach in Chatham,Mass? It’s sure to please even the pickiest beach lovers.

Then, of course, there’s the North and South..

A beach in Chicago? We had no idea… (maybe because we’ve never actually been there in the summer.) If you find yourself there this season, we’re sure that North Avenue Beach is a good way to beat the heat! Of course, if the point is to get out of the city, then this is about as good as it gets – the Cumberland State Park in Georgia offers miles of endless sand and marshes on this untouched barrier island.
