Spike Jonze Incognito for His Film “I’m Here” at Milk Studios
Director Spike Jonze is a romantic. He must be. Not only did he drift in and out of his film screening of “I’m Here” last weekend at the Milk Studios all-day rave in New York, but he did so in a black newsboy cap and shades. The film, a commission by Absolut Vodka grabs you by the heart, or at least by the limb, in the tale of Sheldon and Francesca, two robots living in Los Angeles. Sheldon falls in love with her and risks all to save her life and spirit. Francesca possesses a joie de vivre, so she drives a car (against the law for robots) and loses an arm body surfing at a rock show.
“The Lost Trees” — a fictional rock band formed by Yeah Yeah Yeah’s guitarist Nick Zinner — played the music in “I’m Here.” They also performed a live set at Milk. See video clip above. But you didn’t have to be there to catch this nifty heart-tugging short flick. Jonze said it’s based loosely on Shel Silverstein’s “The Giving Tree.” Just click here: I’M HERE
