Inside Dope: Halloween NYC!

So many parties, so little time! That could have been the theme on Saturday night when all of NYC geared up to ring in Halloween! Certain “in crowds” converged at Tribeca Grand Hotel — where the Misshapes deejayed — and the Bowery Hotel where film editor Gary Breslin screened his new flick. Allison Sarofim — a social girl famous for her yearly home theme party — hosted a “Calder Circus”, based on the abstract sculptures of Alexander Calder. At the event, we saw an interpretation of a Cindy Sherman clown, fashion publicist Bonnie Morrison as a bearded man, and Sarofim in a Calder sculpture for a hat. Guests munched on mini hot dogs and a clown named “Bubble Boy” blew up a bubble around himself and popped it to rain confetti on everyone. Meanwhile, things were just gearing up at The Standard Hotel where hotelier Andre Balazs, dressed as a priest, welcomed guests into a recreated “Heaven and Hell” for the evening. Liv Tyler flew in as “Bat Girl”. Courtney Love showed up as herself, in a black gown. Revolving deejays included the Misshapes (before they hit Tribeca Grand), Jauretsi, and Jamie Biden (the nephew of Vice President Joe Biden). Co-hosting with Balazs, Purple Mag editor Olivier Zahm paraded around as an Orthodox Jew. And art director Thomas Hayo played the part of gatekeeper of Hell, he carried a skeleton stick and his eyes were rimmed in black. Don Hill’s also hosted a party, where Rassi, the co-owner of Milk Studios dressed as Hunter S. Thompson.

Some of us managed to drag ourselves out of bed the next day to catch the annual Halloween parade. Ones to watch in the Hudson slideshow: Gary Breslin with Batsheva dressed as “Tavi the Blogger”, “Russell Brand and Katy Perry” aka Fabiola Beracasa and her boyfriend in reverse gender roles and photographer Craig McDean as a priest with artist Dustin Yellin in a hairy face.
