Spotted: NYC Trend Report, Part One, “The Minimalist”
Around town since recently, a mix of black, white, gray and understated. **All could be perfectly paired with Hudson jeans!
Two recent schools of “looks” seem to have emerged in stylish circles in NYC. The first one, I’ll call “the minimalist,” refers to the use of base tones, black, white and gray. Check out some of those seen in this Hudson slideshow. Black boots, the studded ones worn by girl about town Becky Diamond, and the Doc Martens, seen on the feet of model Jethro Cave (Nick’s son), were shot in the back of a town car on the way to Kenmare. Social denizen Genevieve Jones donned some black tights and pumps with her ivory lace Valentino dress. Budding photographer Gavin Doyle dons a black and white tee with gothic images and “the Cobrasnake,” aka Mark Hunter, seen shooting at a fashion show opts for a similar toned Comme des Garcons, paired with jeans. Designer Tara Subkoff (the blonde pixie), stencils her own gray sweatshirt with a mantra in black letters. Ditto for Adam Whitney Nichols — in black fedora — who drew his version of Picasso’s bull on his shirt. (Nichols will launch “Fortnight Journal” in a couple of weeks with the help of his best pal, Patti Smith. Fortnight will feature people under thirty who are taking over the world with special creative talent and curiosity.)
